Personal Statement
I've always enjoyed competition since a young age. My parents pushed us to try athletics and I was instantly hooked. I love the brotherhood that is formed through the course of a season and I love getting lost in the game as it's played. Playing college football is my dream and all I'm asking is someone give me a shot. My family has always had to scratch and claw to earn the things we have and I take that mentality with me going forward as I strive to play college ball. My parents split up at an early age and we moved a few times when I was younger. Dealing with these issues taught me to face adversity and overcome it.
I feel I have a high football IQ and I'm constantly studying the game and the mechanics of those I admire, at every level. There may be bigger, faster, or stronger athletes out there, but I'll match them rep for rep with intensity and determination. I bring fire and passion to the sidelines. After sitting behind 7 upper classmen guys my first two years, I played left tackle my junior year because my coaches needed me to.
I was awarded the varsity NG3 award as a freshman, which is for leadership on and off the field. I started as a freshman and sophomore on Junior Varsity and dressed Varsity but saw limited action both seasons. I work hard in the weight room and one of my goals is to own all the weight lifting records at my HS before I leave. Because of my youngest brother, I am passionate for Special Needs and enjoy doing for those that have them.
I am a leader and I often step in to assist coaches with younger guys, as they need help. I am always looking to better myself, or help a teammate get better. I am very coachable and will always do the things I'm asked to get better. In the classroom, I give the same effort and I look forward to earning a degree in Education and becoming only the second of my immediate family to finish college. I will be taking my first AP class the first semester of Junior year.
I'm not very concerned by where I land to play ball, all I care is that I get that opportunity somewhere! I will use my unmatched motivation to succeed both on and off the field and in the classroom. I will fight to make my teammates and myself better each and every day as I pursue my dream of playing at the collegiate level. I have faced adversity in many aspects of my life and I want to use those lessons to help me become the best student athlete I can be and represent my family!
