Personal Statement
When I play football, I thank God for the ability He has given me to play a sport that I love. All glory goes to Him. I am honored that you are looking at me as a student-athlete, most notably a man of God. I have always wanted to play football in college and maybe even beyond. But I still have to make it through high school! Football has always been my favorite sport. I have played many sports, which include soccer, basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, and baseball. But none of them come close to the love I have for football. My father and cousin inspired me to play football. My father played college football for the University of Tennessee at Martin and semi-pro football for the River City Nighthawks and NKY Xtreme. He was inducted into his Highschool and City Hall of Fame. My cousin Willie Gault played for the University of Tennessee and went on to play for the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Raiders. The Bears won Super Bowl XX by defeating the New England Patriots 46-10. Football has brought me close to friends and family. Football has also taught me to persevere, work hard, work as a team, be a great teammate/competitor, have good sportsmanship, and improve my time management skills allowing my academics to come first. My parents always told me to work hard in the classroom and the field. Grades are essential; without them, you can't play sports. Relationships are vital to me, and football has taught me how to build those relationships. The relationships one makes in a lifetime should be long-lasting, not short-coming. I am grateful for the coaches/mentors who have helped me get to where I am today, and I look forward to the journey ahead.
Thank you and God bless,
Desmon Gault Jr.
