Personal Statement
Soccer has been a major part of my life since I was five years old. After volunteering to play as a goalkeeper when I was 9 years old, I fell in love with the position and haven't been able to stay away from it. Being a soccer player and continuing to play throughout college requires certain athletic expertise that comes with years of experience. I have aspired to drive myself towards this goal and perfect my craft ever since I was little.
My determination has led me to obtain great positioning across the goal, proper angles, a comfortable feeling when having the ball at my feet when acting as a safety net for defenders to pass back to, good ideas, the ability to think fast, appropriate decision making, and allows me to keep my composure when facing pressure. I also strive to have a great work rate by having strong endurance and fast footwork to better my agility. I excel using my quickness and good positioning to transition across the goal.
I maintain focus throughout practices and games because I believe that I need and will try my best everyday to be better, even if that means getting 1% better everyday. I love listening to my coaches because I know that they are giving me advice to help me. I receive constructive criticism well and am very coachable. I try to apply all the coaching points during drills and games. My teammates are very important to me as we are all one unit working together. I step in when someone is struggling on or off the field.
I work hard all year round, including the off season, to improve my soccer skills. I participate in all sorts of soccer from going to camps to refereeing youth soccer games. I am involved all year round through high school soccer, my cities recreational U19 team, indoor league in Eau Claire for which I was team captain in winter 2022, tennis, and weight lifting, all of which contributes to my athleticism. Soccer is constantly on my mind.
In the classroom, I study hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA. I have been inducted into National Honor Society and have received multiple academic achievement awards. I stay active in the community by cleaning highways, leading youth tennis and soccer camps, and participating in school events. Being a class representative has pushed me to create events to help better my school.
I want to attend a college where I can continue my journey in athletics. My diligent high school course load has helped to prepare me for the challenge of balancing academics and athletics. I am opened to all options of collegiate soccer and am looking forward to the finding the right fit for my future.
