Personal Statement

I am a student athlete and my name is Johnathan Solomon. I fell in love with the game of football when I was about 13. I wasn't very good at the sport, but being surrounded by coaches that believed in me and saw my potential when I didn't only motivated me to get better. At about the beginning of my freshman year I was told "you won't get much playing time your only a freshman", and that only motivated me even more. So I began going to our local gym and putting in extra work even when I knew I wasn't being noticed, because to me real athletes put in work when anyone isn't watching. I also went to the field and put in extra work even after practice and lifting weights. Even to this day I still put in extra work and go to the gym daily, because I'm still hungry and feel like there is plenty of room to excel and improve my game. Some goals I have are to maintain my grades to the best of my ability, and set an example in the classroom for my peers. One of my biggest goals is to play the sport I love at the next level if given an opportunity and attend college to pursue a degree in construction management.

I feel like I would be a good candidate for your team because I always give 110% no matter if I'm being rewarded or not. I am self-motivated and don't need to be encouraged to give my very best. I always make sure to get the best out of my teammates and push them to be a better athlete while also encouraging them and boosting self confidence about the sport. I also feel I am different from other recruits in character because no matter how good I am, or think I am I always stay humble because I believe there is always somebody on your level and there is always room to grow. I am different because no matter who you put me against I will always perform and give everything I got no matter how much bigger the person is than me I will motivate myself to outwork them. I would be beyond grateful for any opportunity, and take full advantage for any opportunity given and I will continue putting in hard work on and off the field.

"The hardest thing to do is work hard when no one is watching." - Ray Lewis.
