Personal Statement

My parents met in college. They were both the first in their family to attend college and they met while playing sports at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Ga where I was born. I've always known that I would attend college because my family has always exposed me to the schools in our state and talked about college being my preparation into adulthood. I am not the best student but I am determined and I have a good heart. I look out for my teammates and I am a really shy kid. I am very observant and I take sports seriously. I love to win! I need to win because we all have a reason for being out there on the field. When I was nine years old my dad died in a car accident and that changed my life forever. My mom has been protective of me and my siblings and she has pushed me to be better every year. I learned to never give up and I have great mentors through brotherhood crusade and Valor, an adventure camp for kids who lost a parent. Last year my uncle and my grandma-- my dads mom died. My family pushes me a lot because we have lost so much and it helps me to want more for myself. I work hard and do my best to make my family proud. I like computers and engineering. I also enjoy gaming and creating concepts on my own. I work hard and achieve my goals because I can't expect anyone else to do it for me.
