Personal Statement

I have played softball since I was eight years old, and I have always dreamed of playing at the collegiate level. I am a straight-A student with many interests, and I am also in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school. I plan to stay in the program all four years because I believe it gives me the academic challenge I need, along with good organizational skills and habits that I can use throughout my life.

In terms of athletics, I feel I would be a good candidate for your team because I am a student of the game. One of my favorite parts about the game is how it allows my brain to think differently outside of school. I’m an incredibly hard worker, and I always strive to improve my game. Softball has made me a better person in so many ways, both intellectually and socially, and I would love the opportunity to continue playing throughout college. Additionally, I was also selected as a team captain on my varsity high school softball team as a freshman. 

I am also the copy editor for my school newspaper and a committee chair in Key Club (service club). I am a part of English Honors Society, Science Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, National Honors Society, and I am the treasurer of Quill & Scroll Journalism Honors Society. I play flag football for my school, and I am on the Spanish Conferencia team for my high school (where we compete in Spanish competitions against other schools in the state). I am also starting a Women in STEM extracurricular club for a local middle school to pique STEM interest for young girls. Finally, I enjoy playing the piano as a hobby, and I value social aspects of my life including close friendships and spending time with my family.
