Personal Statement

I come from a family filled with veterans and exceptionally strong people. Being raised in a family like that has greatly influenced me to do the same, pushing to be great in everything I do.  Being determined and unable to quit came as a given, but sports strengthened those values for me. I learned how to keep pushing through even when it gets tough, by playing sports.  Despite the fact that sports wasn’t something I chose on my own, rather something I was pushed into by my mother, I grew to love them. I began devoting much of my time and effort into succeeding in football and wrestling. I’m coachable, a hard worker, studious, and always open to suggestions for improvement. Between these two sports I love football the most, and yearn to see how far I can go in it. Although playing as an offensive lineman has had its challenges because of my size, I’ve learned to overcome the size of my opponents with my strength and agility.

In addition to  my love for football, I’ve grown a passion for civil engineering and intend to pursue a Bachelor degree in this field. Originally, my first love was mechanical engineering because I found it fascinating. I found the process of  combining a bunch of simple parts to make a complex machine very interesting. It was during a college tour that I  discovered civil engineering and decided to redirect my focus. In my opinion civil engineering has greater versatility and potential. Ultimately,I realized that I would prefer to work on the infrastructure of the world’s roads instead of the vehicles that drive on them.
