Personal Statement

I have learned a lot about myself from playing 4 sports through my years. I have played baseball, and currently play football, basketball, and track. I learned that I like fast paced sports better than slow paced. For example baseball  was too slow for me.  This is why I enjoy the other sports. I have also learned that I am a good leader and a coachable player.

I have a 3.9 unweighted grade point average and am currently in two honors classes and one AP class.  I want to go to college not only for sports but also for the education. I don't have a major in mind yet, but I definitely would like to at least graduate with a bachelor's degree.

My motivation to keep playing football and these other sports is I don't want to work a regular job. I want to get to the NFL, and I am willing to do anything to get there. Football is my passion and what I love to do so the ultimate goal is to get to the NFL. The best way of getting the recognition that I need to get there would be going D1.  That is the goal, but I am willing to work through the other ways including D2, D3, and juco.

I started playing flag football when I was four years old.  I liked it so as soon as I was old enough to play tackle I did. I was six years old at the time. The conditioning wasn't bad, but the first day of pads we did hitting drills. I was matched up against a lineman, and I got hit hard and face masked. I cried. I didn't want to play the sport anymore, but my parents kept taking me. I came back and was okay with playing now. It took some time but my second year I started improving and became a starter.

I have learned a lot of things through my football career. The first thing is that there will always be someone faster, stronger, bigger, and better than you, but all you can do is work to be better. Even if you pass one person, there will be someone else who's still better than you. All you can do is be the best you can and work to be better. The second thing I learned is that I am a good leader. I knew this from being a captain on a lot of the teams I have played on, and I have also been told this by coaches and teachers. The next is that most of the time coach knows best. I have been moved around all different positions and have at least a year of experience at most positions. This was because coach would move me where he thought was best for me.

Lastly is my unique characters and skills. I can read plays on defense and if they call the same plays a lot, I pick up on it and can shift the defense to where we need to be to stop the play. On offense, I can see open holes to run through, and I am also a good blocker on plays where it is needed. I am a good leader on and off the field. I also help my teammates; if there doing something wrong and I know how to do it right, I will try and correct them.
