Personal Statement
I am a multisport athlete, but my main focus has always been on soccer. I love the feeling of making a strong tackle or playing a good ball to a forward, but to me it is much more than that. I have learned so much about myself through the sport and I want to continue to grow more as a player at the collegiate level. I am very tough on myself, which forces me to work my hardest each practice and game and to always be focused.
My favorite part about being a defender is having a view of the whole field in front of me. I am able to communicate with my teammates throughout the entire game because, with this view, I can anticipate when things are going to happen before they do. I can see the open players at this position, which helps me be smart and play the right balls. This also helps me know where to be when and how quickly. Having a high soccer IQ is very important to me and I use it throughout the whole game.
In school, I make sure to have good grades – I have a 4.0 GPA. I study every night so that I understand the material we are focusing on in each class. I am also a part of the Women in Medicine Club and the One Love Club for my school. Doing well in school benefits me tremendously on the soccer field. It has made me a smarter player and has helped me think much better about each situation I may face on the field.
I am keeping my options open for where I want to go to college. I want to take time making the decision so I can be sure the college is the right fit for me. I need to be in an environment where I feel comfortable, but I also want to be able to push myself to do my best on and off the field.
