Personal Statement

Hello, I’m Jack Gianikos a 6’4”, 180 lb. junior at Maine South High School in Park Ridge IL.  After a successful 2023 summer travel season, then earning a spot as a starter on the varsity baseball team as a sophomore reaching 88 mph off the mound, on May 8, 2024, I received the worst news a PO could receive, you have a torn UCL. I was devastated knowing I’d miss the state playoffs and my entire 16U summer travel season with my teammates, but also knew hard work and the long road ahead would eventually pay off like any other training. Two weeks later I had my surgery. After 85 physical therapy sessions, 130 return to throwing sessions and everyday lower body workouts the day finally came when I was fully released. I know with the hard work I am now putting into full training, my velo and control will eventually be better than ever. Wherever I play college baseball I will give 100% on and off the field, set goals, continue to be a great teammate, maintain my work ethic, and take all challenges head on. I learned a lot from my setback.
