Uncommitted. Taylor stands at 6' even with a wiry 175lb frame. Had solid performances in two looks at him throughout the week, where his athleticism and advanced run tool really stole the show. He put together good at bats, showing good feel for the barrel with some raw power present. He uses a compact swing and does a great job of getting the barrel on plane early and keeping it there throughout the swing. Some hand speed present with future projection still left. Good name to know in the 2026 class.

Strong frame with lots of pull side pop/Taylor puts a good swing on this one and sends it deep to CF before it’s tracked down to rob him of a hit. Desmond is an athletic OF/RHP out of Gainesville, FL who showed as a top prospect at the All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth/easy actions. He shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) through his target. Range is outstanding as he utilizes his tremendous foot quickness (6.82 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying excellent hitting/power potential through an athletic setup. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with bat speed (82 mph exit velocity), leading to loud contact through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, this righty has a 3-pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball showed a range of 81-82 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with downward break and is an outstanding out pitch. He maintains arm speed on his change showing slight sinking action. With 2 years to further develop, Desmond has big upside on the diamond and will get looks from collegiate coaches with abilities.

Desmond Taylor (2026 OF, Gainesville, FL) started on the mound this morning and showcased a fastball reaching up to 85mph. He complimented his fastball with a sharp curve, that he often went to in two strike counts, in the mid 70s that had tight spin. Taylor collected six strikeouts over his three innings of work. Athletic build projects well.

Desmond Taylor is a 2026 OF/RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Gainesville, FL who attends Newberry. A taller and high-waisted build. Has a lean and slender build with some athleticism showing. Ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder who showed some bounce during his round of throws during the workout. He was quick to charge the ball, funneling with an uber-quick transfer and clean release. Showed some real arm strength with on-line throws and good carry from the outfield. Kept throws lower and on target at 86 mph. A right-handed hitter with a slightly open stance, higher-set hands, and a high back elbow. He has a hover trigger with quickness to the stroke. Speedy hands and speed through the zone to impact it. He worked to the pull-side and middle of the field during his round of BP swings. Produced an 83 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing—traits to like that project with added strength. Also took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher who worked from the stretch only. He has a longer arm action with whip-through release. He showed arm speed from a higher over-the-top slot, creating some downhill angle. He closes up as he comes to set and then uses his lower half well, working down the slope. The fastball was up to 85 mph and missed bats up, riding through the zone. He also showed great fee for a mid-70s breaking ball with an 11/5 shape to it. He threw it harder and pulled down hard, creating some good shape on the pitch. It was mostly a fastball and curveball attack, but it showed a changeup that he killed spin on, only showing it a couple of times. He works well with tons of pace on the mound, attacking hitters and finding success working north/south. Struck out 6 opposing hitters over 3.0 innings of work. Excellent student.
