Personal Statement
From the age of four years old, sports has been a huge part of my life. As a multi-sport athlete, I have encountered and learned many things along the way from each one. I have become a leader and a captain on and off the field. The brotherhood that I have found in Baseball has given me close friendships on and off the field. I focus on leading by example and helping others, which I believe is an important necessity in life. I am a volunteer umpire at my local little league and love working with kids who want to get to where I am. Umpiring has taught me the game of Baseball from a different point of view and how important it is to respect the game and it's rules. I am currently working hard to put on muscle and weight through the weight room and my nutrition to give me more power on the field.
I am a primary catcher on the field who is also a major contributor to the team as a utility player when I am needed. I am a key part of the pitching rotation as a RHP. I have also spent time at 3B and OF. Each position has given me a different type of athleticism that has helped me everywhere else on the diamond. Though as mainly a catcher, I see that the game, and my team, runs through me. My emotions and actions behind the plate can dictate how my team does in the field. When the team sees me giving full effort and being loud, they know that they need to react quickly and put in more effort because I know the game is not over yet. They trust me and know that I play hard until the very last minute regardless of what the score may be.
I am a shifty and agile catcher with a very high IQ of the game. I dedicate my time to being the hardest worker around. I try my best on not letting people work harder than me and am one of the hardest working recruits you will find in my class. I am an aggressive catcher who focuses on capitalizing on mistakes made by base-runners throughout the game, whether that be signaling to my pitcher to pay attention or throwing them out myself. Along with my arm, I work hard on perfecting my receiving and steal borderline pitches, and putting my body on the line to block all the balls in the dirt to control the opponents running game. As a right handed hitter, I focus on seeing pitches well and hitting line drives into the right-center gap and letting my speed create havoc on the bases. I am a quick runner who likes to steal bases and pick up on tendencies by the pitcher and catcher to get into scoring position.
In the classroom I am a smart student who pays attention and works hard to get my assignments done to keep my grades up. I currently have a 4.25 weighted GPA. I study hard at home and realize that if my grades are not good, my future in Baseball may not come to fruition, as this is one of the things that helps set me apart from others in my class. In college I would like to major in Sports Management or Exercise Science to keep me involved in sports down the road after graduation. I believe that hard work on the field, in the classroom, and at home will help decide where my future takes me.
