Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Hayes Griggs, and I am a student-athlete at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas, class of 2027, where I am proud to be a part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I come from a loving family with two dedicated, hardworking parents and a funny little brother who keeps me grounded. My family has taught me the importance of perseverance, dedication, and optimism—values that I carry with me in every area of my life.

Throughout my life, I have always maintained a positive outlook, believing in the power of encouragement and the importance of lifting others up. As an athlete, I have the privilege of sharing this mindset with my teammates, particularly during difficult moments in a game or in life. Whether someone is struggling on the field or facing personal challenges, I make it my mission to inspire them, reminding them that their worth is not defined by their setbacks. I believe that by fostering a positive attitude, we can overcome obstacles together, both in sports and in life.

Football has been an instrumental part of my growth, teaching me valuable lessons in discipline, teamwork, and resilience. These lessons are not just confined to the field—they apply to every aspect of life. In the same way that coaches avoid negative players who bring down team morale, I aspire to build a company that fosters a culture of optimism and collaboration. My ultimate goal is to go professional in football and use the resources I gain from that experience to fund a game development company. Through this venture, I want to create games that not only entertain but also inspire players to stay hopeful, embrace challenges, and focus on the good even in tough times.

The games I hope to create will do more than offer enjoyment—they will encourage players to build resilience, work together, and grow as individuals.
