Personal Statement

The game of football was introduced to me on Nov 11, 2006 in Baton Rouge, LA. This night my parents went to the LSU vs Alabama game, one of the great rivalries in football. LSU was the underdog but came out with the WIN, 28-14.  Tiger Stadium is known to be one of the loudest stadiums and can measure a small earthquake on the Richter Scale. The roars of victory sounded throughout the city, and my mom said she did not sleep at all because I kept her up all night. Apparently, all of the excitement from this awesome and unexpected win had me rolling around and kicking inside my mom’s belly. I was born just a few short months later….

But seriously, I am a class of ’25 Slot Receiver, LB, TE from Shreveport, LA. I was injured my freshman year and half of my sophomore season but have since recovered from surgery and started the last 6 Varsity games at DE. I do not normally play DE but I took advantage of any opportunity and was grateful to get on the field after surgery. Hopefully, this will explain my limited game film. Being injured and unable to play was the most difficult obstacle I have had to overcome so far. As challenging as it was, it made me more disciplined, more focused, and more appreciative of my health. I set a date for my return to the field, and after months of grueling physical therapy and strength training I was finally cleared. I played the rest of the season like I was making up for lost time!!!!

I am a leader both on and off the field. I have been a team captain on my football, basketball, and soccer teams. I also pride myself on being a well-rounded person being involved in FCA, an All-Academic District Athlete Freshman and Sophomore year, and was recently selected as an Orientation Leader at my school. I can promise you, if given the opportunity to play football at the next level, I will continue to be an asset to my teammates, coaches, and school, by striving for excellence both in the classroom and on the field. My mantra is “if you want something that nobody has, you have to do what nobody else is willing to do,” #outwork.
