Personal Statement

I am currently a sophomore. I am beginning the process early so that I can commit early and leverage my time the next three years to include excellent academics and playing a second sport: baseball. I am focused on finding a situation where I can receive full financial assistance while attending a great academic institution. I may desire playing baseball also. I am currently a two way starter, as a sophomore, on State Champion Saguaro Sabercat's. This is a huge honor. Still growing, I am now a 6 foot , 180 pound skill player that is best described as a solid position player who is a team player while also watched due to the game breaking abilities I have been blessed with. I am starting as an H-Back, but also working some reps as the single halfback. I ran for three touchdowns and averaged about 5.5 yards per carry on just 46 carries. I also caught 17 passes this season, averaging about 16 yards a catch on a team that did not throw much. I was the third on the team in catches. On special team I blocked 2 punts and returned 2 out of 7 kick off returns for touchdowns of 98 and 95 yards. I have also trained for years as a QB and have played in schemes where the ball is direct snapped. I also am playing strong safety with a goal of gaining 25 pounds to possibly contribute as a linebacker next season. My final stats show about 800 yards all purpose yards, with 6 touchdowns. I was honored by opposing coaches by being voted: SECOND TEAM ALL REGION DEFENSIVE BACK. In the off season I work very hard on bettering my stgrength and speed. I will pick back up at Athletic Republic when I begin playing baseball in the spring. I began lifting this January and try to lift 5 days a week, even during baseball season. Depending on what college I go to, I have the abilitgy to play both baseball and football. My goal is to feel welcome in the college recruiting me and I cannot pay for any part of my school expenses. My dad is a single dad and he has little in the budget for college. Therefore my intent is to work hard in class, with a goal of at least a 3.5 GPA and be very successful on the field which will attract a full scholarship for me. I would like to play right away; however, I know in some systems this will not be possible. I am open to playing in any of the three divisions if the financials can work. My academic interests so far are not refined. I am interested in medical and legal professions. Being pretty good with numbers i am considering accounting also. Being a sports attorney or in sports medicine feels comfortable. I will be making some road trips in the spring and summer before my Junior year. So far, I am considering a multi-stop trip in California and likely will attend the San Diego State camp. I can fly stand-by for free so I will consider flying to schools showing interest. My coach will be sensitive to me missing too much off season practice, so my unofficial visits will have to be planned well in advance.
