Personal Statement
My name is Bailey Addison Cook and my reason for wanting to go to college after high school is simple. I know it will help prepare me for my future beyond school. My goals at this time are either to study law, sports medicine, or forensics science but I know I have time to finalize that decision. For most of my life I have been playing both softball and showing horses at the national and world level. Although I have earned 10 World Equestrian Titles and love the sport, I recently made the decision to focus 100% on softball. My athletic goal is to play softball for a college team that feels I am able to help the program succeed.
In all aspects of my life, I am an extremely hardworking and dedicated person to whatever I set my mind to . I work out at the softball field out side of team practices and extra lessons to strengthen my footwork, glove work or base running. I have worked with strength/conditioning coaches as well as speed/agility coaches at 4:30 in the morning prior to school to give me that extra edge over the athletes I compete against. I am working very hard to convince my fellow teammates to do the same because I have seen the benefits personally and I know it will help our entire team be more successful.
Academically, I have been taking advanced classes in Math, English and Spanish and I work very hard for my grades. I know that the grades are what will get me where I need to be both in college and beyond. As most competitive athletes, my life is very busy with all my workouts, club team and high school team practices and hitting lessons that I work with tutors to ensure I don't fall behind on my studies.
I made the Varsity team last year for my high school and I am looking forward to this upcoming season as a sophomore. I had wonderful upper classman guide me last year and I look forward to stepping in to be a leader and helping the younger players coming up. High school can be difficult to adjust to socially and academically and I hope to be there for my teammates like the seniors did for me last year.
If you were to talk with my teachers, coaches or family and friends, I think you will hear that I have good character and am extremely dedicated and hard working. I hope that I find the right college softball program that I can help be more successful.
Thank you,
Bailey Addison Cook - 2016
