Personal Statement

      I am Nick Pulciano, a senior attending Arcadia High School in Southern California. I play for the  Arcadia Apaches varsity football team, a member of the Pacific League CIF Southern Section Division II football program. I am their starting kicker doing both kickoffs and place kicking off the ground. I do punting as well. This season our team came in third in the Pacific League and went to first round of CIF play offs. I was awarded All Conference 2nd Team Offense. Last season our team won the Pacific League Championship and won our first game in the CIF quarter finals. I was awarded All Conference 2nd Team Offense as well as All Area CIF Honorable Mention.  I carry a 3.2 GPA taking college prepatory courses.

      Growing up, I always saw myself as a soccer player and one day playing at the professional level. Once I became a freshman at Arcadia High School, I decided to try out for the football team. I played tight end as a freshman and sopohmore and was captain of the JV team. Coincidentally, I stumbled upon kicking and discovered that I was a natural. From there, I developed a love and passion for kicking and the game of football. I was awarded Three Sport Athlete, playing football, soccer, and baseball, both my freshman and sopohmore year. When I became a junior, I decided to solely dedicate myself to football. Now a senior, I am looking forward to my best season.

      I am a leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at school and volunteer as a St. Rita youth peer leader at my church. I am a certified lifeguard and a First Class Boy Scout as well. Over the summer I obtained a job at Ralphs market as a courtesy clerk, where I was able to utilize my social skills. I am now employed with the LA County Department of Parks and Recreation as a recreation services leader. Using the qualities I have learned from my life experiences, I have become the type of person who puts the team first. I will always work for the person right next to me.

      I would like to go to a school that will give me the opportunity to kick and obtain a quality education. Given this chance would be a dream come true for me. The idea of a brotherhood  working for one another to reach a goal is everything I believe in. Having enjoyed the comradery of my team and spending time with top quality student athletes, I look for this same experience in college.  The schools I am interested in should  have a great football program with pride and tradition as well as outstanding academic programs.
