Personal Statement

My name is Tatiana Podolsky, I am currently a senior at Santa Cruz High. I started playing tennis at the age of nine. It began just as a hobby that I shared with my sister, and over the years it has grown to be my main sport and something I'd like to pursue in college. I began USTA tournaments at the age of 10, and achieved a consistent top 30 ranking in divisions under 10, under 12, and under 14. I am currently working toward my national ranking. My whole family plays tennis. In the years of 2008, and 2009 I played father-daughter USTA tournaments, and was awarded Player Of the Year. In 2010, and 2011 we were ranked the number 2 father-daughter team. In addition, since freshman year, I have played #1 varsity singles for my high school. In academics, I am interested in science. I have completed many AP, Honors and community college classes. At this point, I am working on my college applications with a plan to major in Pre-Med. As for college, I am eager to visit new places, however because of the economical situation, out-of-state tuition may be not realistic. Therefore, my first option is to study in California. I will be graduating a semester early, this December, and plan to use the extra time to travel and volunteer overseas.
