Personal Statement
My name is Jarrett A. Mitchell and I live in Okinawa, Japan. I attend Kubasaki High as a Senior. I have lived in Japan for 17 years and have enjoyed every second of it. Growing up, I also wanted to play sports, basketball in particular. My little brother started to play football which inspired me to play as well. Being a role model to him was a goal and became very important as we both continued to grow older. After my freshman year I made the decision to take my game to the next level with competing with student athletes stateside to see where I am at. This inspired me to want to inspired other athletes overseas that being overseas is not a boundary. That we are able to make it to the collegiate level as well. It just takes hardwork, dedication, and commitment to wanting to put in the extra work. I began to help other young athletes with looking for camps and working with them so they can too achieve that goal that have set for themselves. With living in a small community it benefits because, I am able to build a relationship with other student athletes who have the same aspiration as I do. Motivating student-athletes who are willing to perform well in school and on the court or the field is what motivates me to go above and beyond.
