Personal Statement

My mom told me she played in a beach volleyball tournament when she was pregnant with my twin sister and me, and she dug a ball off her stomach. I’m pretty sure I helped get that ball up and it counts as my first official dig! Digging is still one of my favorite things to do, whether I’m on the beach or playing indoor.  This club season, I’m transitioning from playing right side to being a libero, so I’m even more excited about digging as many balls as I possibly can.

I’ve had some struggles in the past with my perfectionist attitude. Even though the best players make a lot of mistakes in volleyball, I used to get mad at myself every time I messed up. After seeing a sports psychologist, I have gained many tools to help me learn from my mistakes and let go of them more easily. My perfectionist attitude has grown into my strive to become the best player I can be. I have also learned to become more of a leader and next year I will be a captain on my high school team for the second time. Each year, I keep learning how to be a better player and person and I can’t wait to keep learning and growing in college too!
