Chris Rubio National Long Snapping Event
Jan 14, 2012 - Jan 15, 2012
I am currently nationally ranked #68 of long snappers. Notes from Chris Rubio: Connor is a Long Snapper with a great frame and attitude. Listens well and is coachable. Definitely has potential on size along. Form is decent to start. Needs to stick his chest out a bit to use his full size. Great follow through for a large man...he really gets his arms all the way through. Looks like he is touching the punter. Needs to also focus on staying on the ground and not hopping so he uses his size for speed on the ball. Good kid with lots of potential. RUBIO Chris Rubio (626)260-2524 Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com

Personal Statement

Hi Coaches -

Thank you for checking out my profile, and you may read this if you want to learn a little bit more about me.
I'm in the Class of 2013 at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, California.  I played on the JV team in both my Freshman and Sophomore years.  My Sophomore year, I played practically the whole game, starting both on offense as their Center and Long Snapper, and on defense as Defensive End.  My Junior year, I was the second string Center, but went in during several games.  I started as their Long Snapper.  For the season, I made 57 out of 60 fast and accurate snaps for both PAT's and punt snaps.
Many of my coaches have said I am the best Long Snapper Oaks Christian has ever had.  Because of being such a high caliber school, these compliments really inspired me to work hard and get even better.  These showed me that I have the potential to play at a collegiate level.  I attended the Chris Sailer/ Chris Rubio Long Snapping National event in Las Vegas, in January.  This is the biggest Long Snapping event in the country.
I currently start as Oaks Christian's Center and Long Snapper in the 2012 season for my Senior year.  I also have played on the Varsity Men's Volleyball team at my school as their Middle.
In college, I plan on majoring in either engineering, business, accounting, or secondary education.  It's a long list, but I know that God will guide me through the process.  I am very involved at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village, and consistently go on service trips in my community.  My friend and I recently started a Basketball Camp for local children.  We handed out brochures to an apartment complex, offering to teach skills to their children on Saturdays for free.  We taught basic basketball skills in a clinic type setting.
My family is extremely supportive of me.  My dad is an executive pastor, and my mom is a real estate professional.  My older brother is a Senior at Baylor University on an Air Force ROTC scholarship.  He is majoring in chemistry/pre-med, and is currently applying for medical school.  I get along great with my family, and look up to them for advice and wisdom.

Comments from some of my teachers on my report card:
  • AP Physics teacher - Roger Hall - “Connor is doing well in this class and I appreciate his taking the course.  He has been consistent throughout the year and for the most part he has been diligent in submitting assignments in a timely manner.  He is fun to have in class.”
  • AP US History teacher - Gary Pate - “Connor has an exuberant personality, joyful and given to a big smile and hearty laugh.  All the while, he knows when to be quiet and attentive in the midst of the lessons, and he is a very teachable young man.  He has heeded instruction and correction and has grown stronger as an essay writer as a result, including more evidence in his responses.  Connor’s joy reflects his love for God, and I am happy to have had the chance to teach him this year.”
  • Pre-Calculus teacher - Christopher Moya - “Connor is an extremely bright young man.  He is a lot of fun to teach as well, since he brings such a dynamic sense or humor that enlivens our discussions in class.”
Thank you again for taking the time to check out my profile.  I look forward to hearing from you soon to talk about how I might make a positive impact on your team!
