Personal Statement

My name is Donald Hesse. I am a Post-Graduate andhave been playing for the Mass Maple Leafs. I graduated from St. Mary's of Lynn. I have been playing Hockey since I was 4. I have been a goalie since I was 5. As a Mite I played for the warriors. My team went 21-0-2. We won the gold Metal in Lake Placid. As a Squirt my team went to lake placid and we took home the bronze. While in Lake Placid I was named the player of the game 3 times I train year round with my goalie coach Mike Buckley from GDS. This past year I did a 2 month goalie camp with college goalies and Minor league goalies. I have been St. Mary's Varsity starting Goalie since I was a sophmore. Since I have been in that position I have helped my team advance my first year to the semi-finals in D1 and my 2nd year we made it to the north finals. We also made it to the finals again this year 2011. This is the first time we made it this far. I was one of the Lynn's Channel 15 honored athletes. I had a write up in the HNIB magazine this year. I have been chosen 3 years in a row to do this show case. During this years showcase I had 6 assists for goals as their goalie. My goalie coach taught me how to be the 3rd defenseman on the ice. I do what ever I can to be a team player. As a sophmore I was given the coaches award, As a Junior of the same team I was named the MVP. I always give 200% percent in everything I do. I feel I try to be a team leader in any sport I play. I always talk to my players when the puck is in our Zone. I try to lead by example. I am always the first one at the rink and the first one on the ice at practice and games. I have trained for the last 13 years so that I may have the opportunity to play college hockey. I am interested in criminology because I want to be able to help people who need it and try to make a difference in the way the world is going. We need more people that are willing to make a difference by helping people in need. My coach from St. Mary's is a police officer and he has showed me that it only takes that one special person that can make a difference as long as you care enough. I want to be that 1 special person. This year is my Senior year and I will be taking criminal justice courses. I am registered to take Criminal justice, Terrorism, physiology. I am also taking pre-calculus so that it can help when I retake my SAT's. I have not decided one way or the other on a school. I just want a school that can give me a good education and great hockey. I am hoping to get some type of Academic scholaship if possible to help my parents with the burden of paying for college. They have given up so much to make sure that I was a competive Hockey player and gave me what ever I needed to make this possible.
