Personal Statement
Hi my name is Jenna Grutzmacher. I'm an outside hitter/opposite for the class of 2019. Growing up I played multiple sports, but volleyball was the one sport that I really loved. I started playing when I was in fourth grade and ever since then I've aspired to play at the collegiate level.
During high school, I have faced many challenges both on and off the court including not getting picked to play sections freshman year, not starting sophomore year, and having my dad serve in Iraq for two different tours. I welcomed these challenges as they made me stronger and more dedicated to everything I did. Despite these hardships, I have maintained a 3.95 GPA, as well as developed my mental toughness and improved my confidence. I feel that I am a well-rounded, diverse athlete, who is willing to try anything. I have always been an all-around athlete and coaches know they can depend on me for anything. I strongly believe communication and energy is a big part of volleyball and I always make sure I am the loudest and most positive person on the court. Although I am not the tallest hitter, I work every day to develop my vertical and use my quickness to my advantage.
I take pride in my school work as well maintaining my 3.95 GPA in honors and AP classes and being a member of National Honor Society. I try to be a leader in the class as well as on the court, keeping others motivated and positive. I would love to play volleyball at a southern or costal school while majoring in Biology or Chemistry to pursue a career in medicine. I feel I would make a great asset to any college program as I leave everything on the court and am constantly striving to be my best.
