Personal Statement

I am Kelly Biermann, I am a six foot tall middle blocker, and I go to Xavier High School. I have played volleyball for a very long time, going all the way back to backyard volleyball around age five, and I absolutely love the sport. I have played with a variety of people at many different levels. I was chosen to be on the 2008 Iowa High Performance team. Then, my club team placed 6th in the national division at the 2009 Junior Olympics in Miami, Florida. I have been starting on our varsity team since sophomore year, and I was practicing with them as a freshmen. As far as college goes, I am not really sure what I am looking for yet. I think I would like to stay in the midwest. Math and sciences (biology/chemistry) are my favorite classes, so I want to do something in those fields. A good education is very important to me. I am a hard worker, and very competitive in all aspects of my life. My mom is constantly telling me, �??This is not a competition,�?? but I try to be the best I can be at everything anyway. I also am a very good friend, this may seem to be a weird quality to include in this little statement, but my teammates are very important to me. Our Xavier team is like a little family, I know I can count on my teammates for anything whether it relates to volleyball or not, and they know they can count on me. I really would like to have this same relationship with a team I play on in college.
