Personal Statement
My name is Skylar Burns and I’m a hardworking softball player. I would like to attend a college to study art, photography, journalism and potentially become an Art Teacher or Art Therapist. I believe I am a good candidate for a college softball team because I'm truly passionate and dedicated to the sport enjoying and having fun being part of a team. I am on target to graduate from Tolland High School in June of 2019.
In the past six years, I have played on several different travel softball teams, was chosen to be a starting high school varsity player for my freshmen, sophomore and junior years and most recently my senior year; (playing where my coach needed me at short stop, 2nd/outfield and short stop/pitcher respectively), (also chosen to be captain in my junior year), pitched and played short stop, 2nd, and 3rd at four national annual tournaments, and continue to practice and play hard year round to keep my skills as best as they can be. I believe I’m very coach-able, a good listener - taking direction well (having had at least 12 different coaches since I was six when I started to play), and I get along well with others supporting and encouraging my teammates.
I believe I know the game well and have the right character and attitude to complement any team. I am grateful for all the opportunities I've been given thanking my parents, coaches and team-mates for sharing it with me, and I look forward to the hope of a future playing college softball.
