Personal Statement

My name is Kalani M. Gunn. I am a 17 year old football player at Cimarron Memorial High School (CMHS).  My primary position is corner, secondary is receiver. I have been playing football since the 7th grade. But that was only for fun until my freshman year in high school.  I then started playing tackle football in my sophomore year at Cimarron and enjoyed the game the more I played.  I fell in love with it --- realizing it is a great sport to be apart of. 

My position coach said I was a natural which is when I started to take football more serious and train harder to improve my skills at  corner back. I listen to what the coaches tell me to do and give it my all every single time I am on the field. Being successful in my academics, football, and track would be a dream come true.

Since training started for the upcoming season 2019-2020, I have picked up an additional starting position as Kick Off Returner. 

Receiving scholarships in academics, football and track is my goal for   senior year. I work hard and keeping pushing myself to be a better athlete whenever I hit the field and I will continue to do so. 

Things get tough sometimes, BUT, that is when I buckle down and realize I have to work harder and have faith and believe in myself. I refuse to allow anything to stand in my way. I made a  promise to myself and my family that I will always work hard and do my best. I will not stop until I get there.

Academically, I average a 3.25 GPA, but my goal is to raise my grades 2019-2020 to a 4.0 or higher and maintain this throughout my senior year.
