Personal Statement

I love everything about the game of volleyball.  The thrill of a kill, a great pass, the cardio workout because staying fit and healthy has always been important to me, and even the excitement of the crowds. I was first introduced to the sport in second grade where I played on a local team with my friends. My parents quickly saw my interest and abilities develop and supported my passion by taking me to high school games.  I couldn't wait until I was old enough to play at a more competitive level. When that time came my parents and I had a long talk about the time and commitment club sports require you to give. They only had two conditions, play for the love of the game, or don't play at all. Know that there will be times when you win and sometimes you will lose.  It's the nature of the game, second, to understand how the game is played you need to learn and play all the positions. It will not only make you a more valuable player but help you support and encourage your teammates. I also realized it keeps the game interesting and challenging,  I always have something I can work on and a new goal to reach.  Along the way I have also seen many of the friends unfortunately get seriously injured. That's where I first got the idea of becoming a physical therapist.  I began to read articles and do research on the field and I can't wait to begin and reach my new goal of becoming a physical therapist.  However, I know to reach my goal of playing volleyball at a college level and becoming a physical therapist will require hard work and discipline both of which I have plenty of.
