Personal Statement
My goal is to attend a school that challenges me both on the volleyball court and in the classroom, while obtaining an overall positive, Christian atmosphere.
I attend New Covenant Schools, a small classical Christian school. I love being in the classroom and expanding my knowledge. I have been taught how to push myself to my limits, whether I am doing a homework assignment, finishing a test or studying for a final exam. With these principles ingrained in my mind, I have done well in school. So far as a high school student, I take all honors level classes and have been able to achieve Summa Cum Laude honors. My teachers have complimented my hard work and attention to detail in the classroom, as well as my willingness to help others grasp the material we are studying.
I believe that the principles I have established in the classroom have translated into the way I have performed on the volleyball court. Keeping a hard work ethic in the classroom, has helped me to put in the hard work in other activities, especially volleyball. I work to give my best each practice and match and I likewise expect the same from my teammates. As an outside hitter, I have learned to love both the offensive and defensive side in the game. I get just as much satisfaction in getting a kill or a stuff block as I do digging up the perfect pass for my setter and helping set up a play. While a lot of people may not like serve receive, I now love it because, just like in the classroom, I have taught myself how to enjoy it. Each season I play, I have a goal that I want to achieve by the end, whether it's becoming a more consistent passer, or learning how to tool the ball better and at the end of every season I am always able to see an improvement. At this rate of growth, I can't wait to see where I am in two, three or even four years!
Volleyball is one of my platforms to proclaim God's truths and be a witness of his glory. I would like to attend a school where I am encouraged to not only grow academically and physically, but most importantly spiritually.
