Personal Statement
~~Hockey has been my passion since I was 8 months old when I received my first mini-stick at the Memorial Cup in Kamloops, BC! I started skating at 2 and by three I was playing on an Initiation team for the Knights of Columbus in Edmonton, AB. My goal has always been to play as high a level of hockey as possible for as long as possible.
Up until Midget I played on top level teams in St. Albert, AB. During the summer leading up to my first year of midget I asked if I could move to Kelowna to attend the Pursuit of Excellence(POE) Hockey program because I was a late bloomer and felt that I could maximize my potential in a 10 hr/day skills-based program. From the time I was 14 I was billeted in BC and, more recently, PA. This experience has helped mature me beyond my years.
Some of the highlights of my career so far are… leading scorer in my last year of midget(POE), runner-up for league MVP for CSSHL, played in the NAPHL top prospects tournament, was named to the NAPHL all-academic team, leading scorer for Salmon Arm(BCHL) playoffs(2013) as well as receiving many game MVP awards in both winter and spring hockey.
My stats for the last 2 seasons have not been as good as I hoped because of injuries that resulted in 22(high ankle sprain) missed games during 2012-2013, and 12(separated AC joint) games during 2013-14. I also missed some games at the beginning of last season as I was in transition between teams. I am now fully recovered from these injuries and expect to have better results this winter.
As far as my style of play is concerned, I am a very smart and skilled puck-possession player. I am also very coachable and eager to learn anything that will improve my game. I work hard on and off the ice to be the best I can be. I never give up! I want to get better each time I step on the ice and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve this. I am a quiet leader... I lead by example.
I also consider myself to be a very diligent and serious student and I am interested in studying medicine and/or business. Medicine .. because I'd like to help people get/stay well. Business... because my parent's own a business and I find it very interesting.
I believe that I am different than other athletes because of my passion, my work ethic, and my commitment. I am all-in for the team because I love this game.
