Personal Statement

I love to do my best-no matter what it is.

I am a very competitive person. I continually strive to do my best, even against the worst odds. My goal in athletics is to be the best I can be-always. I want to row in college. To prepare for that, I have played Varsity Field Hockey in the summer and fall, I swim competitively on our ACHS Varsity Swim team and have moved into lane 5 (the strongest lane) over a period of three years and I row in the ACHS Varsity Crew in the spring. I also train in the summer with our club team and high school team for Crew. I train throughout the year so that I can be the best that I can be.

Additionally, I feel the same way about my academics. I aspire to succeed throughout my academic career. When a subject challenges me, I try my best to overcome the challenge and do well. I hope to someday work in law.

I am a senior leader in our Brigantine Youth Group at our church in Brigantine, NJ. I regularly help run meetings, fundraise and reach out into the community to support our Youth Group. I have been trained in drug and alcohol prevention and have presented seminars to younger groups of students on the benefits of living a drug and alcohol free life. I have worked with our Youth Group in conjunction with the Municipal Alliance of Brigantine to share my interest in drug free living. I have also attended YOUTH TO YOUTH three times (an international drug free awareness training conference) and was a youth staff this past summer at the conference.

Additionally, I recently lost my home in Super Storm Sandy and have been displaced for the past year (I lived in 4 different homes). Last month, we were able to go home. I have consistently helped and volunteered my services in our community to assist others who have been affected by the storm. This past fall, I went to New Orleans with our Youth Group and volunteered at Project Homecoming.org to help repair and rebuild homes of Hurricane Katrina Victims. It was an amazing experience since I completely understand what it is like to not be able to go home. I met great people down there and intend to continue my volunteer work with them.
