Personal Statement
Ever since I was introduced to football at 10 years old, it has become a major part of my life. Up until my freshman year of highschool, I played left guard, center, and linebacker. Then came my freshman year at South Hills High School. I played the slot receiver and linebacker positions. I had led my team in receiving yards and also dressed with the Varsity team. Approaching the end of my Freshman year, I had realized that there was a greater opportunity at Covina High school where I could excel on the field, as well as in the classroom. With that being said, I made the decision to transfer to Covina High. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, my sophomore season was cut short, only playing 5 games. As a sophomore at Covina Highschool, I started at slot receiver and safety. In addition, I also received the "Rookie of the Year" award for excelling on/off the field, always showing up, and giving my 100% effort.
As well as my work ethic, I take pride in my academics as well. Throughout elementary and middle school, I received above a 3.9+ GPA every school year, which allowed me to receive several "scholarship patches" while playing Jr. All American Football. In addition, I ended my freshman year with a 4.0 GPA, and my sophomore year with a 3.89 GPA. I also made the Honor Roll for “Succeeding During Distance Learning”. These weren't just average classes either. Both years, I took Honors and Pre-Ap classes. Although online school my sophomore year was a struggle, I made sure academics was my #1 priority, and knew that If I wanted to go to a good college/university, I’d have to maintain good grades. With my junior year of highschool approaching, I will continue to thrive in my academics.
Another top priority is my training. Over the years I have been coached by great strength/conditioning coaches, receiver coaches, and speed training coaches. As of right now, My daily training consists of; speed/agility training (morning), training with Quarterback (noon), Boxing (after-noon), Gym (night). Although my training is intense, I know that it will pay off in the end. Making these sacrifices will allow me to be disciplined, and in shape for the season.
One of my motives to succeed in life is my father. My father unexpectedly passed away in 2019. Although I didn't get to say goodbye, I hope that I can make him proud by going to the next level and beyond. I know that's what he would've wanted for me. In addition, I would also like to make my mom proud. She has made several sacrifices and has always been my #1 supporter.
