Personal Statement

A detail that has influenced who I am is I have always had a ball in my hand. I was always tossing or kicking a ball around. Growing up I have always played soccer. Playing soccer has helped me build leg strength and helped me learn how to kick a ball solid. Kicking has always come easy to me. I became interested in kicking the beginning of 8th grade year. Everyone in my grade was huge and I didn’t want to quit football so I started thinking of ways I could help the team. I talked to a few people and found out our team did not have a Kicker. Ever since that year I have loved kicking and contributing as much as I can. Kicking has taught me that there’s more than just walking onto the field and just booting a ball. There’s blocking, snapping, holding, your steps, your focus, the coaching, and the fine tuning of the 11 players to make a kick work perfectly. My high school goal is to bring my GPA up to a 3.0. My goal in college is to learn as much as I can and find a major I will enjoy doing the rest of my life. One obstacle I have had to overcome is my ADHD. On and off the field I would lose focus easily. Ever since I have started medication I have learned to keep focused and keep working to better myself and make place around me better. A unique characteristic of mine is I always look on the bright side of things good or bad. Another characteristic is I perform well under pressure. In a high pressure moment or very tense moment, I don’t let my nerves show. I put on a plain face and focus on what I need to do. A unique skill I have is I have always been able to play any sport at any position at a competitive level. I’ve played basketball, baseball, soccer, and football at a competitive level and have had pretty good success. I would make a good candidate for any team because I put the team before myself. I do whatever needs done to better the team as a whole and bring everyone together. What makes me unique is I am a silent leader. I’m not the guy whose going to get everyone fired up. I am the person when times get rough, attitude and body language is important. It motivates some players when we are down and they see a kicker who does everything he can to help contribute. I am unique because I don’t talk too much but I have an impact on the team.
