Personal Statement
My name is Ava Johns and I am a 2022 pitcher/utility player from Manassas, Virginia. I play travel softball for the Titan Elite 16 and under team while maintaining a 3.5 GPA at Charles J. Colgan High School. Since I started playing softball at six-years-old, my love for the sport has continued to grow, even if it’s just going to my cousin’s house and playing wiffle ball with them.
On the field, my first love is Pitching. I thrive on pressure and love to have the ball in my hands as much as possible. While I'm not pitching, I can play any other position, although I'm still very new to catcher. I take pride that I can help my team in so many ways because I'm so versatile.
During college, I would like to study sports medicine. Softball and science have always been my favorite things to do and learn about, I am hopeful that I will be able to combine my love of both in my college experience.
I'm currently working with Keith Tasaka, the pitching coach at Mary Washington University. I'm learning the correct way to use my legs to help with speed and stamina. I'm excited to see my progress on the field in the next few months and hope you can find time to watch me as well!
