Personal Statement
Although my very first softball game when I was only 5 years old was spent sitting on the bench crying, this sport has come to have such an incredible impact on my life. My coach that first year did not give up on me that first game, but instead allowed me to play outfield the very next t-ball game, and my love for the sport began. Thanks to her for being an instrumental part in pushing me to play at such a young age, that I grew up playing a sport that I truly enjoy and it inspires me. I've gone from being scared to step on the softball field to being a leader and captain of my team for the past four years. The game of softball has taught me to never put my head down, to stay positive, to stay determined and to constantly work hard. Not only do these lessons apply to softball, but also in my daily life and in school.
From the first day of school, I was taught by my parents that homework comes first and every day after school that was the first thing I did. Because my parents instilled in me the importance of education, the grades on my report card have been nothing below an A. I plan to stay committed to my schoolwork throughout the rest of my student-athlete career. When the opportunity to play softball at a collegiate level is offered to me, I will bring my commitment, positive attitude and leadership to your team.
