Personal Statement
My name is Derek Ivey and my goal is to attend a university and to play football at the collegiate level as well. I intend to study finance and/or economics at the university I attend. I'm a hard worker on the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom. On the field, my coaches asked me to change positions from wide receiver to defensive end. Not many people thought I could successfully make that change before the following season, but I proved them wrong and started my junior year. I am disciplined in the weight room and I continue to push myself to become the strongest I can possibly be. I am not where I want to be yet, but I continue to progress towards my goals. In the classroom I have an unweighted GPA of 3.57, I am taking AP level classes and have made both the Honor roll, and High honors. As I continue to put the effort I have into my academics and athletics, I am confident I can achieve my goals as a collegiate student-athlete.
