Personal Statement
Five years ago I walked onto the court for the first time, I don't even think I watched a volleyball game before that day. The middle school coach questioned my desire, knowledge and of course height. I was 10 years old, under 5' tall and probably looked very scared. Since than, that same coach has named me captain of the team for three years running. My team, which had never been to the playoffs has gone three years in a row making it to the quarter finals all three years. That one scared day has changed my life, I have found my passion in the sport I love, volleyball. I am a setter, I love to command the floor feeding my hitters so they can kill over and over again. In 2015 I was passed up for the top team, I was new to the club, this fed my competitive spirit. I worked harder than I had before pushing through the off season with a desire to show those same coaches they made a mistake. In 2016 I was Co-Captain, and starting setter on the top 14's team, the only time I sat out was a tournament where I sprained my thumb, I was back two days later at practice. I love this sport, my goal is to play in college at the highest level and win a national championship. In subsequent years, I have made the top 14, 16 and 17's team at Excel NW Volleyball. I am currently playing on the 17's top team even though I had one more year available at 16's.
I also throw the Javelin for Ridgefield High School and Three Peaks Throwing Club USATF. For High School 2017 season as a freshman, I finished 8th in 2A state with a throw of 121'7". I finished 2nd in the Pacific NW USATF Junior Olympic qualifier. I finished 3rd in 15/16 USATF Junior Olympics. My best distance for 2017 is 126'4"
