Personal Statement
Having played baseball and training in martial arts since I was 4 years old and basketball for the past 6 years, I realized that athletics is a large part of my life. At a young age, I tried many other different sports such as football, tennis, golf, and soccer, but baseball has been a real passion for me from the beginning. I want to continue my experience and love of baseball into college and beyond. My goal is to play baseball at the highest level and to be the best player, person, and student I can possibly be. Academically, I have aspirations for athletic training, English literature, and psychology. Although I have dipped my interest in multiple careers, athletic training is more prominent to me because my cousin is working to get his master's degree in athletic training and works as an athletic trainer (with his bachelor's degree) at Purdue University. Individually, I am highly motivated, hard working, disciplined, focused, easy to get along with, respectful of my peers and coaches, tenacious in doing better, courteous, and goal oriented. However, when it comes to team sports, I try to give my 100% to commit to whatever program/team that I am apart of. One thing that has given me an athletic advantage is my achievement of a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have read that only about 2-5% of those who train in martial arts actually achieve their black belt. So, if I can set a goal, train, and reach that goal at the age of 8 years old, I know that my ambitions can turn into realities if I have the drive and tenacity to do so.
